John George Petrie (1879–1934)

The death of Mr. John George Petrie, who had been ill for some time, occurred yesterday. Mr Petrie, who was the eldest son of the late Mr. Andrew L. Petrie, and was 55 years of age, carried on his father's monumental masons' business, and was associated with several other city businesses, being a director of the South Brisbane Gas Co., Ltd. He was a member of the Rotary Club. While retaining an interest in rowing, having been a member of the Toowong Commercial clubs, he was an enthusiastic member of the Brisbane Golf Club. Mr. Petrie is survived by a widow and two sons (John Robert and Donald).
