Mr. George Pearse was the second son of Mr. William Pearse, and was born at North Fremantle, W.A., in 1839, in the early days of the Western State. He received his education in Perth, and after a varied career he became interested in pastoral properties. He owned Meka Station, on the Murchison, and was also interested in Kimberley as part owner of Rarriwell and Meda Station; in addition to these interests he was a shareholder in the Kimberley Pastoral Company Limited and the Obagama Cattle Company.
Mr. Pearse did not identify himself with public affairs, but in an unostentatious manner always furthered any movement which made for the progress of his town or State. In this connection he was one of the founders of the Fremantle Building Society, an institution in which he took a lively interest up to the time of his decease, and he was a member of the board of directors for many years. He was of a benevolent disposition, with a tendency not to let his left hand know what his right hand did.
