Born near Glasgow in 1841, Mr. Patterson arrived in Melbourne with his father in 1846. In 1861 he went to live at Warrock, then the property of his uncle, the late Geo. Robertson, and stayed there fourteen years, managing the estate. In 1875 he purchased Caupaul, another Victorian property, from Mr Donaldson, and the following year married Miss Simson, daughter of Mr. Rex George Simson, of Roseneath, Victoria. On the death of Mr. R. G. Simson, he managed Roseneath for the family, as well as Warrock and Caupaul, and in 1891, when Mr. Geo. Robertson died, he acquired Warrock, and took up his residence there.
The late Mr. Patterson was in failing health for some two years before his death. He was of a generous and hospitable disposition, and for a number of years acted as a member of the Glenelg Shire Council. He also took a great interest in the A. and P. Society and other societies to which he belonged. He leaves three sons and one daughter—Mr. George R. Patterson, of Warrock; Mr. Hugh Patterson, of Caupaul; Mr. Charles S. Patterson, of Euraba, North Queensland; and Mrs. Malcolm Mackinnon, of Weerongourt.
