Mr. William Charles Parbury, 90, a director of Parbury Henty and Co. Pty. Ltd., died last Sunday.
Mr. Parbury's business connections went back to Australian pioneering days.
His grandfather, Frederick Parbury, formed a merchant business in Sydney in 1833 with Captain John Lamb.
Mr. Parbury was born in England and became a partner of Parbury and Co. in London in 1886.
On amalgamation with James Henty and Co., he went to Melbourne as a partner of the firm (afterwards reconstructed into Parbury Henty and Co. Pty. Ltd.).
He lived there for the rest of his life. Mr. Parbury was elected to the Australian Club in 1894, and when he died was senior in years of membership.
He had also been a member of the Royal Melbourne Golf Club since 1901.
Mr. Parbury was a widower. Two sons, Messrs. H. W. and C. G. Parbury (prominently connected with the company), and four daughters survive him.
