Edward O'Toole (1854–1935)

Mr Edward O'Toole died at his residence, Edward-street, Kurri Kurri, on Sunday. He was a veteran of the Afghan War, and was stationed in the British Army in India for many years. He was General Secretary of the Miners' Federation in Tasmania at one time; and also worked as a miner at Pelaw Main. He took an active interest in the Labour movement.

Mr O'Toole was born at Black Crasie, Scotland, his father being manager of a silver mine there. He is survived by a wife and eight children; one of his sons was killed at Pelaw Main 12 years ago. One son is Secretary of Pelaw Main Lodge.

The pall bearers were members and officials of the Pelaw Main Lodge. The funeral was largely attended. Mr J. M. Baddeley, M.L.A., represented the Labour party.
