We regret to record the death on 21st December at his residence, Merton, Elsternwick, of Mr. James Osborne. The deceased gentleman, who was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, came out to Australia in 1836 with his father, who took up Yackandandah Station in Victoria. With his brother, the late Mr. Henry Osborne, the deceased some years later took up Kergunyah Station, in Victoria, and Buckaginga and Momalong Stations, in New South Wales. He paid a short visit to Ireland in 1854, when he was married, returning to Australia in 1855. Subsequently, with his brother, he became owner of Colombo, Berrigan, Gum Swamp, and Bull Plains Stations, but retired from pastoral pursuits many years ago and settled down at "Merton," Elsternwick, near Melbourne.
