John Orton (1827–1905)

Mr. John Orton, ex-storekeeper of Bathurst, died at his residence, Ravensbourne, John street, Petersham, on Friday, in his 79th year. Deceased was the eldest son of the late Rev. Joseph Orton, formerly superintendent of the Wesleyan Missions in Australia. He took a keen interest in Methodism, and was a member of the Central Methodist Mission and other Church organisations. Amongst those present at the funeral was Mr. F. Halliday, who is also an old Bathurstian, and who was a very old friend of the deceased.
