Mrs. Ottilie Amanda Josephine Ohlsen (62), of Goulburn St., Hobart, was fatally injured when a car driven by her son, Waldemar Adolf Ohlsen, got out of control on the Midlands Highway a mile north of Cleveland town ship yesterday morning and over turned.
It is thought that the accident was caused, by the breaking of the knee-action mechanism of the car, which fell to the road.
The accident occurred about 8 a.m. The car travelled 46 yards after the mechanism failed, then veered to the left, hit a bank, turned over, came back on to the bitumen and travelled for another 40 to 50 feet, turned, and came to rest on its hood. Mrs. Ohlsen was taken to Campbell Town Hospital, but was dead on arrival.
Other passengers in the car, Gustave Adolf Ohlsen and Velma Muria Hyatt, both of Hobart, were not injured.
