Daniel (Dan) O'Brien (1868–1915)

The death is announced this morning of Mr. Daniel O'Brien, who used to be well known on the principal racecourses of Australia as a rider in both flat and jumping races. A long interview with deceased appeared in The Advertiser on February 5. He was born at Strathalbyn 47 years ago, and after riding in many country races for the late Dr. Blue he came to Adelaide, and subsequently made a name for himself. During the last few months Mr. O'Brien had been an inmate of the Consumptives' Home connected with the Adelaide Hospital.
