Catherine Nulty (1870–1945)

A well-known and highly esteemed pioneer resident of Leeton, Mrs. Catherine Nulty, widow of the late William Nulty, passed away rather suddenly on Thursday pf last week. She was only ill two or three hours before she died in the Leeton District Hospital, aged 75 years.

Born at Gawler, South Australia, deceased came to Leeton 33 years ago. While her husband took a most active part in the development of the irrigation area, politically and as a representative and member of practically every organisation that aimed at the advancement of the area industrially, agriculturally or in sporting spheres, Mrs. Nulty looked after the household and the rearing of her family and was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by two daughters Felicitas (Mrs. L. W. Bailey), and Pauline, and two sons, Lawrence (Sydney) and Bart (Leeton). Also one brother, Mr. Daniel Sweeney and one sister, Mrs. E. Carver, of South Australia.

She was predeceased by her husband and one son, Murray.

Her funeral took place on Friday last, burial taking place in the Roman Catholic portion of the Leeton cemetery.
