Walter Scobie Nisbet (1882–1934)

On Sunday evening last at the Collinsville Hospital a well-known and respected resident of this town in the person of Walter Scobie Nisbet, passed away suddenly at the age of 52 years. The deceased gentleman had been engaged as a blacksmlth at the local Slate Mine for several years past and had only entered the Hospital a few days previous to his demise. He was born at Kilmarnock, Scotland, and prior to coming to Australia 26 years ago, had followed, his calling in South Africa, afterwards residing in New South Wales and later for ten years at Tannymorel, Queensland, and for the last twelve years In Collinsville. He leaves a sorrowing wife, and two grown up sons and one daughter to mourn their great loss. The funeral, which was largely attended, left his late residence at 4.80 p.m. on Monday afternoon, a large number of his workmates marching with the cortege, and Mr. A. Kyle performed the last sad rites at the graveside.
