David Charles McWilliam (1877–1955)

Mr. David Charles McWilliam, of Alfalfa, Leyburn, and other properties on the Darling Downs, Q., died last month at the age of 78. He was born in Victoria but moved to Kangarooby, near Cowra, N.S.W., with his family in 1888 and was educated at The King's School, Parramatta. In 1908 he purchased The Rivers, at Gooloogong, N.S.W., and later had another property near Grenfell, N.S.W., before moving to Alfalfa, a portion of the old Ellangowan Station, in 1919. Other properties acquired by Mr. McWilliam included Cloonacool, adjoining Alfalfa, Prairie, near Jondaryan, and The Meadows, Dalby, all of which are still controlled by members of his family. He is survived by two daughters—Mrs. K. E. Tout, of Gundagai, N.S.W., and Mrs. I. M. Todd, of The Meadows—and two sons, Messrs. C. F. McWilliam (Prairie) and A. F. McWilliam (Alfalfa).
