Archibald Rutherford McCrae (1850–1917)

Archibald McCrae, n.d.

Archibald McCrae, n.d.

from Pastoral Review, 16 April 1917

The death occurred last month of Mr. Archibald Rutherford McCrae, a well-known Riverina pastoralist, at the age of fifty-seven years. He was the son of the late Hon. John McCrae, M.L.C., of Victoria, and leaving school in 1876, went to Calimo Station, near Deniliquin, N.S.W., then owned by his late brother, Jas. McCrae.

He managed Calimo for a number of years prior to 1889, when, with his brother, J. Arthur McCrae, he purchased Werai Station, near Deniliquin, from the Estate of the late Hugh Stitt. He always took an active part in the management, and made Werai his home. The late Mr. McCrae was unmarried.
