Dan MacTaggart, n.d.

Dan MacTaggart, n.d.

from Pastoral Review, 16 February 1924

At the age of 71 years Mr. Dan Mactaggart, governing director of Mactaggart Bros. Ltd., died in Brisbane on 29th January. Born in Scotland, he came to Australia when 16 years old, and joined his uncle, Mr. John D. Mactaggart, of Kilkivan Station, Q. Later he became a partner in Glenbar Station, in the Burnett, but the owners lost heavily in the droughts of 1877 and 1878. When the partner died the station was sold, and Mt. Mactaggart commenced business in Maryborough as a stock and station agent. He was joined by his brother, and later they moved to Brisbane, where a considerable business was built up.

Mr. Dan Mactaggart was chairman of the Brisbane Wool-selling Brokers' Association for 11 years, and chairman of the Queensland branch of the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia during the appraisement period. He was prominent in rowing and sailing, and was a famous amateur oarsman
