Nelson Simmons Lawson (1836–1891)

A very old resident of Mudgee, Mr. Nelson Lawson, passed away on Thursday morning at Mr. Phillott's residence. The deceased gentleman's career reads like a romance, and it has fallen to the lot of few men to experience the vicissitudes of life, as Mr. Lawson has done. At one time he figured as one of the largest landowners in the district. The deceased was 55 years of age, and his funeral took place on Friday at 2 o'clock and was largely attended by many friends.
