Frank G. Lavender (1876–1927)

The news of the sudden death in Melbourne of Mr. Frank G. Lavender on 9th November came as a shock to a very wide circle of friends. Mr. Lavender was born at Wagga, N.S.W., on 28th August, 1876, and, after completing his education at the Melbourne Church of England Grammar School, joined the stock and station agency firm of Wilkinson and Lavender as a clerk at the Hay office. Subsequently he became managing director of the firm, and for many years has lived in Melbourne.

Mr. Lavender possessed a remarkable knowledge of land and stock values, which gained for him the confidence and friendship of the pastoral community. Many large station deals were carried through by his firm. For a long period he was associated with Mr. Ben Chaffey in property and racing matters. He was a member of the leading racing clubs in Victoria and New South Wales, and of the Melbourne and Australian Clubs.
