We announced last month the death of Mr. Edward James Lamb, general manager in Australia for Houlder Brothers and Co. Limited, following a heart seizure at Vaucluse, Sydney.
The late Mr. Lamb, who was 61 years of age, was a grandson of Mr. William Bailey Lamb, who arrived in Australia by the Marquis of Anglesey at the Swan River Settlement in 1829, and who became well known through the strong stand he took up against the importation of convicts into Western Australia.
Mr. E. J. Lamb took a keen interest in historical research, and was a member of the Australasian Pioneers' Club, the Royal Sydney Yacht Club, and the Australian Club. He was very popular throughout the shipping trade, and his sudden death was a great shock to his many friends.
