Abraham Kozminsky (?–1934)

Mr. Abraham Kozminsky, who died at his residence, Calmere, Huntingtower road, Aramadale, yesterday, arrived in Australia from his birthplace, Poland, when aged 14 years. He became a successful country storekeeper, and took a keen interest in goldmining. Later he acquired the Austral Hat Mills, retiring from active business just before the end or the war. He was a founder of the Tax-payers' Association of Victoria, and served on the council until his death. He was foundation president of the Jewish Farmers' Agricultural Trust at Shepparton, a trustee of the Synagogue at East Melbourne for many years, and a member of the committee of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and the Jewish Philanthropic Society. The late Mr. Kozminsky gave liberally to worthy causes of all denominations. His wife died six years ago. One son, Leslie, and two daughters, Mrs. Leon Jona and Mrs. David Roseby, survive.
