J. M. Kerkin (?–1918)

The death has occurred of Captain J. M. Kerkin, late pilot at the Manning River, at his residence, The Laurels, College-street, Drummoyne. Previous to his appointment as pilot at the Manning River, 17 years ago, he traded for many years on the coast in charge of coasting vessels and steam tugs. Captain Kerkin was master of the Government subsidised tug boat Asis, and, later on, of the tug John Gollan, owned respectively by the late Captain Robert Langley and Captain Hector Gollan. He leaves a widow and eight children.
