Mrs Kelly (?–1831)

I am very sorry indeed to inform you, that on Saturday night between the hours of nine and ten o'clock, Mrs. Kelly went into the stores to draw off some spirits; in drawing the cork it spouted quickly out, and Mrs. Kelly having a candle an her hand, the spirits took fire, and instantly caught her clothes; every exertion was used to extinguish the fire, which was very soon accomplished; but Mrs Kelly was burned very much to her legs and thighs. Doctor Sherwin was very soon in attendance, and remained all night, and he had a very good opinion of her recovery, but sorrowful to relate, she departed this life this morning at a quarter before one o'clock, and will be interred on Wednesday morning about 10 o'clock.
