George Frederick Kaye-Hall (1865–1936)

The death in the Hobart Public Hospital last week of Mr. George Frederick Kaye-Hall, removed one of the identities of the Southport district. Born at Sandy Bay in 1865, the late Mr. Kaye Hall joined the police force when aged 27 years, and after six years of service was appointed to the Southport station as constable. In this capacity he served for 27 years, and in the earlier days when the timber industry was at its height, his work was very arduous. At times he had to travel through untracked country as far as port Davey, and was at Southport when the Boat Harbour tragedy occurred.

The funeral took place at Southport on Friday, the Rev. V. Butters officiating. There was a large attendance from all parts of the district. There were many beautiful wreaths. The deceased leaves a widow, one son (Mr. Lester Hall), and a daughter, Mrs. W. Koerbin (Waddamana).
