Thomas Henry Jones (1887–1950)

A well-known figure in Donnybrook circles in the person of Mr. Thomas Henry Jones passed away after a short illness at his residence in Emerald St., Donnybrook on September 26 at the age of 63 years.

The late Mr. Jones was prominently associated with the railways for many years. He was born in Wales in 1887 and came to Australia about 1912 entering the service of the W.A.G.R. He was married shortly afterwards and his wife, four daughters and a son survive him.

The late Mr. Jones was posted to Donnybrook as a guard and soon became a familiar figure along the Preston line. Mr. Jones retired from the service of the W.A.G.R. in 1947, having a few years previously been transferred to Waverley. The late Mr. Jones was a prominent member of the U.A.O.D. in Donnybrook. 

The funeral took place on Thursday last in the Welsh Free Church portion of the Karrakatta cemetery, a Welsh service being conducted by Mr Samuels. Funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. Donald J. Chipper and Son, in conjunction with Wm. Brittain and Son, Bunbury and Donnybrook.

The pall bearers were Messrs. T. V. Finch, J. Edwards, K. Rodan, J. and M. Robertson and M. Gamnow (representing the U.A.O.D. Donnybrook and Central branch).
