The ACT water police yesterday recovered the body of Mr Noel Leigh Jago, 22, from Lake Burley Griffin.
ACT Police said they thought there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. A member of the public saw the body of Mr Jago near the Carillon, near where he disappeared 19 days ago.
Mr Jago, a fourth-year forestry student at the ANU, disappeared on July 20, while jogging along the shore of the lake towards the start of a relay race at the Carillon.
Mr William Jago, his father, flew from his home in Tasmania to try to help the police. He told them his son had recently written home to say that he was homesick and fed up with examinations at the university.
Fellow students said he was "a loner" who did not appear to have any close friends.
An inquest is expected to be held.
