Cecil Herbert Holloway (1899–1969)
Cecil Holloway, a veteran member of the Communist Party and a life member of the Australian Railways Union, died recently in Concord Repatriation Hospital.
At the age of 16 he volunteered for service in World War 1 and served in the Middle East. It was here that he learned the futility of war.
Together with his wife, Alice and his family of six children he lived in Sutherland and was always to the forefront in initiating and supporting community projects, including a soup kitchen during the depression, and children's centres in later years.
Deeply humanistic in his outlook, a fine internationalist, he worked unceasingly for socialism.
Tribune extends the deepest sympathy to his family.
