The funeral of the late Olive Jean Heinrich was also held in Cadell on September 18, after a service in the Uniting Church, conducted by Rev. Oates, of Berri.
Mrs. Heinrich, aged 72, was the widow of the late Fred Heinrich, who was also an original soldier settler in Cadell. She was the mother of 11 children — 10 of whom survive her; five sons, Glen, Allen, Laurie, Brian, Robert, and five daughters, Barbara, Joan, Maureen, Shirley, Helen, 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Heinrich was a much loved and respected member of the community, supporting the many interests of her children; especially in sport, as well as in many other ways.
She taught Sunday School in the early days, and was a member of the bowling club, school welfare club and CWA.
Her funeral service was also attended by almost all the people of Cadell, as well as her many friends and relations from other towns and interstate.
The organist at both services was Mrs. L. G. W. Coxall and the singing of well known and much loved hymns was led by Miss C. B. Colquhoun and was an inspiration to all who sang or listened.
The spirit on this day in which people of at least five denominations took part, was really something wonderful to experience as was expressed by so many and worthy of comment here.
The Church, as Christ meant it to be, was very much alive on that day.
