Jonathan Evans Hassall (1856–1941)

The death has occurred at the age of 84 of Mr Jonathan Evans Hassall. As a young man Mr Hassall entered the survey branch of the Department of Lands. He held high offices in the department until his appointment to Tamworth as chairman of the Land Board. He remained chairman of the board until his retirement in 1920.

From 1902 until 1908 Mr Hassall was draftsman-in-charge of the Grafton Lands Office. From Grafton he went to Armidale and thence to Tamworth. He returned to Grafton 18 years ago and made his home here. Mr Hassall is survived by a widow, two daughters and three sons.
