By the death on the 19th inst. of Mr  Abrahnini Harris, of 12 Loch-street, St. Kilda, at the ripe age of 95 years, there has passed from our midst one of our oldest and most highly esteemed  Jewish identities, who was devotedly attached to his faith, and obviously sincere in his strict orthodoxy. Though for many years past the late Mr. Harris suffered much from ill-health, he bore his pains with admirable courage and fortitude. His ever-smiling presence, his warm handshake and cheerful speech, and the keen interest he manifested throughout his long life in the welfare of Judaism and the community rellected a genuinely pious spirit, which could take broad views and experience deep sympathies. He was always ready to help any good cause, and his charity was quietly and unostentatiously performed. Particularly was he solicitous for the welfare of the distressed Jews in Jerusalem. It was always a great pleasure each year to visit Mr. and Mrs. Harris's Succoh, in the decoration of which Mr. Harris, despite his great age, loved to take part, and to hear some of Mr. Harris' clever witticisms, which were not the least attractive item in the tempting fare provided.

Mr. Harris was in full possession of all his faculties until a few weeks ago, when an unfortunate accident which befell him at his home administered a shock to his system, from which he never recovered. He passed peacefully away on the 19th inst. Much sympathy is felt for his sorrowing widow and sons in their sad loss. The remains of the deceased gentleman were interred on the 20th inst. in the Melbourne General Cemetery, the Rev. J. Panglow, M.A., officiating.
