Hedley Ernest Hardman (1867–1927)

MR. H. E. HARDMAN.

The death occurred recently, at his residence, Mona-road, Darling Point, of Mr. Hedley Ernest Hardman, a well-known pastoralist, and formerly of Banoon Station, Barraba. Mr Hardman, who was 60 years of age, had been ill for some time past. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. Thomas Hardman, and was born at White Hills, near Launceston, where his family resided for many years. He was attracted to Western Australia in the early days of the gold rush of the 'nineties, and was among the fortunate prospectors at Coolgardie. He subsequently invested in Perth freehold and country lands Later he settled in Victoria, and after an extended visit to Europe he returned to New South Wales, and purchased the Kangiara Estate in the Yass district. Soon afterwards, he became the owner of Banoon Station, a well known property, which he sold recently to Mr. J. Dent. Mr. Hardman married the eldest daughter of Professor Beresford Sproull, who survive.
