On the 18th ult., the death took place in Sydney of a very well known and highly esteemed pastoralist, Mr. George Hollinworth Gordon, formerly of Gragin Station, Warialda, N.S.W.
Mr. Gordon was 76 years of age at the time of his death, having been born at Sydney in 1847. Educated at the Sydney Grammar School and the Sydney University, he took up pastoral pursuits at a comparatively early age, and managed in conjunction with his brother, Mr. H. E. H. Gordon, Gragin Station. Upon the death of his father, the late Mr. Hugh Gordon, he and his brother took over Strathbogie Station, Emmaville.
Mr. G. H. Gordon was prominently associated with many pastoral organisations, and for some years occupied the positions of president of the Warialda Pastures Protection Board, and of the Warialda Agricultural Society. He relinquished the active management of Gragin many years ago, and his son, Hugh, assumed control of the property on behalf of the Gragin Pastoral Company Limited, which was formed by the family. In later years he became a notable croquet player, and won many championships.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife, one son, and seven daughters. He was the beloved friend of the writer of this note (A.W.P.), and will be much missed by him.
