Herbert James Giblin (1854–1946)

Mr Herbert James Giblin, who died at Hobart yesterday at the age of 91, was for many years accountant of William Crosby and Co., shipping agents, of Hobart. Since his retirement he had lived at Orford. He was keenly interested in religious matters, and did much philanthropic work among the poor. Mr. Giblin was a son of the late Mr Thomas Giblin, formerly manager of the VDL Bank.

Mr Giblin is survived by his wife (formerly Miss Amy Mitchell, of Lisdillon), two daughters—Mrs L. Dechaineux, of Derwent Park, and Miss Kate Giblin, of Orford-and a son, Prof Norris Giblin, Lecturer in Physiology and Medicine at McGill University, Toronto. Dr W. W. Giblin, of Hobart, is a brother.
