Matthew Henry Gibb (1878–1927)

Matthew Gibb, n.d.

Matthew Gibb, n.d.

from Pastoral Review, 16 May 1927

The death of Mr. Matthew Henry Gibb, of Cootamundra, N.S.W., occurred on the 29th of last month. Born in 1878 he was in the prime of life, and his demise came as a surprise to his many friends. Educated at the Sydney Grammar School, he joined the firm of Dalgety and Co. Limited upon finishing his studies, and remained with them for a period of fourteen years in the wool department. Retiring from Dalgety and Co. some years ago, he started business as a stock and station agent at Cootamundra, and became closely identified with all pastoral movements in that district. As an alderman of that town he did excellent municipal work, and made every effort to improve civic conditions there. He took an active interest in the sporting life of his district. Cheerful and considerate, he was a popular figure in the community, and his death will be deeply felt by a large number of friends who valued his fine character.
