The death occurred at Young yesterday of Mrs Lucy Ann Freer, 83, relict of the late George Freer.
The esteemed Cootamundra identity, who had been living with her son, Sam, at Cootamundra, for the last three years, became ill six weeks ago, and had another bad turn while on a visit to Young to stay with another son, Alick.
Deceased was the mother of Fred (Kogarah), Dave (Temora), Sam (Cootamundra), Alick (Young). One son, Frank, died at Thirroul 12 months ago.
Prior to her marriage, the first to take place in the historic Cullinga Church, which was demolished several years ago, deceased was Miss Lucy Bradman, and is survived by two brothers, Mr George Bradman (Campbelltown), and Mr John Bradman (Yass); and one sister, Mrs Emily Whatman (Bowral). Mr George Bradman is the father of the famous cricketer, Don Bradman, so that deceased was his aunt. Don was born at Cootamundra. Her husband, the late George Freer, had a property at Cullinga, which he sold to the late J. J. Ingold. Mr Freer came nearer to Cootamundra, acquiring 'Greenhills' in 1902. In 1908 he sold that, and retired to Cootamundra to live at 'St. Hilary,' Queen Street.
Deceased's husband died 25 years ago.
The funeral is to leave Christ Church, Cootamundra, at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon.
