Thomas Fox, n.d.

Mr. Thomas Fox, Labour M.L.A. for South Fremantle since May, 1935, died in the Fremantle Hospital yesterday after a few months' illness. He was aged 74 years.

For many years the late Mr Fox was well known as a member and official of the Fremantle branch of the Waterside Workers' Federation. He joined the branch in 1918 and in 1924 was elected its president. Four years later he became secretary of the branch. This position he held until his election to Parliament after the appointment of Mr. A. McCallum, the then sitting member to the post of chairman of the Agricultural Bank Commission.

He proved himself a conscientious member and hard worker for his electorate, and earned the esteem and respect of members of both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

The late Mr. Fox left a widow and three sons. The burial will take place at the Fremantle Cemetery at 9.45 o'clock this morning.

Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Fox was expressed yesterday by the Acting-Premier (Mr. Watts). He said that Mr. Fox's death had deprived the State of a valued citizen, who had spent most of his life in semi-public and public service. Mr. Fox had had a long experience and close knowledge of working-class problems particularly, and from his entry into Parliament 16 years ago he had proved himself an energetic and conscientious legislator.
