New Year's Day saw the passing of Mr. Joseph Fabre, who more than 20 years ago was a prominent figure in local Labor and trade union circles.

As an advocate of union regulations, the late Mr. Fabre was considered to have few equals in his time, and he also played a large part in various Labor movements. It is stated that he was instrumental in securing the original awards for hotel and restaurant employes and for barmaids and barmen and that he was also interested in the award conditions of dairymen and butchers.

In the last two decades or so the late Mr. Fabre did not play an active part in connection with the trade unions, but right up to the time of his death he was interested in the various trade movements. For many years he was also a highly esteemed member of the Buffalo Club.
