John Bakewell Eggleston (1877–1932)

Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Mr John Bakewell Eggleston, of Gillies Street, Hampton, which occurred yesterday afternoon after a short illness. Mr Eggleston was widely known in the legal profession. He was aged 55 years. He was born in Brunswick and was educated at Wesley College and the Melbourne University. In 1899 he was admitted to practice of his profession, and he then became a member of the firm of Eggleston and Eggleston. He was a director of John Danks and Son Pty Ltd. And a trustee of the widows’ fund section of the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Co Ltd. He was a member of the Peninsula Country Golf Club and the Savage Club. He was a brother of Mr F. W. Eggleston, with whom he was in partnership. Mr J. B. Eggleston is survived by a widow and three sons. The funeral will leave Sleight chapel, 138 Flinders Street, at a quarter past 2 o’clock to-day for the Cheltenham cemetery.
