Mr. Thomas Reginald Edols died at "Gowan Green", Baker's Swamp, Wellington district, on October 17, at the age of 49 years. He is survived by his wife Myrtle, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Higgins, of Penrith, and by son and daughter, Derek (who is on the permanent staff at Duntroon) and Jennifer. A brother, Mr. Ted Edols, is in the Islands, and two sisters are in England.
Deceased put his age up to join the first A.I.F. He served with the artillery in France and afterward transferred to the Air Force. He served with distinction till August, 1918, when he was shot down, landing safely behind British lines.
Mr. Edols was a member of Molong Pastures Protection Board, past-president of the Graziers' Association, Wellington, a Councillor and ex-President of Macquarie Shire, and had other public activities. He attempted to enlist in Word War II, but not being accepted, he returned to his property and took over a command in the A.T.C. and was an original member of the V.A.C.C.. He stood unsuccessfully for Calare electorate as a Country Party candidate at last Federal elections.
