Henry Leigh (Harry) Denford (1887–1968)

Harry [Henry Leigh] Denford who died in Sydney recently in his 80s, was one of the earliest members of the Communist Party in Australia. He was the party's secretary in 1923-24, being then succeeded by Mr. Tom Wright. He was one of the candidates when the party first contested a parliamentary election in its own name, in the 1925 NSW State election. He later became prominent in the ALP, and an organiser in the Ironworkers' Union, and was then a member of the Milk Board until retirement.
