from Examiner
Mr. George Bye, of Forest Farm, Blackwood Creek, died suddenly yesterday, at the age of 80 years. Mr. Bye's record of 65 years of service for the Archer family, of "Woodside," Cressy, is possibly unique in Tasmania. He was engaged by the late Mr. Basil Archer at the age of 15, and continued in the employ of Mr. Hedley Basil Archer until his death. Mr. Bye was a member of the Longford Council for a term, and was also a justice of the peace. He was twice married, and his second wife survives him. There is a large family. The funeral will leave Blackwood Creek at noon tomorrow, arriving at Cressy at 12.45 p.m.
