Mr. Jim Bryan died this month at the age of 91 at the Strathalbyn (SA) hospital.

He had a long record in the socialist movement as a member of the IWW, as SA secretary of the Socialist Party many years ago, and as an active trade unionist, peace fighter, and Communist.

He was a delegate to the Federal Conference of the Builders Laborers Federation, representing South Australia in 1925, and attended anti-Vietnam war demonstrations up until a few months before he died.

His militant career took him through the big struggles at Broken Hill in the 1920s and he spent time in jail as a result of his activities. His direct views about the movement, his humorous recounting of experiences and his kindness endeared him to all who knew him.
