Mrs. Ellen Brown, wife of Mr. Daniel Brown, George-street, Moonta, died on Saturday in her eighty-first year. She arrived in Australia with her husband in 1852 by the ship Wanata. She was a native of Brigstock, Northamptonshire, and her first 16 years in the State were spent at Woodside. Then she removed to Maitland, where her husband followed farming pursuits for 28 years. Retiring 12 years ago, they took up their residence at Moonta. Their diamond wedding was celebrated at Prospect in 1910. Besides the widower, there is a family of four sons and seven daughters—Messrs. W. H. Brown (Adelaide), John Brown (Wallaroo), C. A. Brown (Prospect), and D. E. Brown (Maitland), and Mesdames D. Lambert (Murray Flats), C. E. Johnson (Norwood), J. Buck (Moonta), F. A. Cane (Islington), A. Hinton (Tumby Bay), J. Paling (Hawker), and C. H. E. McLeod (Moonta). There are 48 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
