Travers Robert Rhys Broughton (1885–1915)

The news has been received in Tamworth of the death of Private Travers Broughton, who has been killed in action at the Dardanelles. He was a member of the transport section of the 15th Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade. Deceased was 30 years of age and the fourth son of the late Mr. H. B. Broughton of Hay, and Mrs. Broughton, of Wolsley Road, Point Piper, and brother of Mr. F. R. Broughton, of Tamworth. He was well-known in Tamworth, Gunnedah, and Barraba districts, having at one time been connected with the late firm of Messrs. Lowcock, Broughton and King. Leaving these parts he went to Queensland, and was for some time manager of the Charleville branch office of the well-known Queensland firm of stock and station agents, Messrs. McPhie and Co., of Toowoomba.
