John Brissett (1852–1935)

The death occurred in Sydney of Mr John Brissett, a former resident of Inverell and district, at the age of 83 years. He was born in London, and was brought to Australia by his parents when he was four years of age. He spent most of his life in mining pursuits, and came to Inverell during the tin-mining boom of 1873. He did an immense amount of prospecting in the Tingha and Gilgai portions of the district, with varying success. He is survived by four sons and three daughters.
