Lucy Clara Bird (1857–1948)

Mrs Lucy Clare Bird, aged 91, wife of the late Dr Frederic Dougan Bird, well-known Collins st physician, died at South Yarra on Monday. She is survived by a son and a daughter.

Mrs Bird was the elder daughter of Arthur Hopkins, third son of Henry Hopkins, who arrived in Port Phillip from Van Diemen's Land in 1837. He acquired Wormbete Station, near Winchelsea, where Mrs Bird was born.

A foundation member of Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Mrs Bird was also a member of Alexandra Club and Victoria League Club. She was interested in landscape painting, woodcuts, and repousse work.
