Our district has, during the last week, lost an old and respected resident. Mrs. Hannah Bellamy, senior, after a short illness, died on the 14th instant, leaving the strongest evidence that she has gone to better world. She and her husband, who is still living, were both natives of the colony — had been married fifty-two years — lived, except a short interval, on the same farm — were the parents of fourteen children, and the grandparents of one hundred and fifteen. Mrs Bellamy was in her sixty ninth-year, and her life was characterised by uniform unselfishness and neighbourly kindness. She was known the most by those who had at any time needed assistance and comfort and her sudden death is proving to be one of those sad events which make many an aching heart.
