Many political organisations and trade unions were represented yesterday at the funeral of Mr William Peter Barry, father of Mr Barry M.L.A. who died at his home in Pigdon street, North Carlton, on Saturday, aged 80 years,

Mr Barry, who was born in Tasmania, had been associated with the Labour movement in Australia for many years. He formed the Quarry-men's Union, helped to form the Engine-drivers and Firemen's Union and the Australian Workers' Union, and organised the Municipal Employees Union in all parts of the Commonwealth. He was a foundation member of the Carlton branch of the Australian Labour party.

The funeral left St Brigid's Church, Nicholson street, North Fitzroy, for the Melbourne General Cemetery where the burial service was read by the Rev. Father Stewart. The coffin was borne by Mr George Barry and Mr William Barry M.L.A. (sons), Messrs W. Cox and A. McKenzie (sons-in-law).

Pall-bearers were the Lord Mayor (Councillor A.W. Coles), Mr Kennelly M.L.C., Councillors J. B. Naughton, H. F. Foster and G. J. Hardy, Senators Sheahan, Keane, and Cameron, Mr. J. J. Liston and the president of the Municipal Employees Union (Mr Bleasby).
