A well known former resident, Mr. William Diggory Barnett, died in the Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday at the age of 64 years. Mr. Barnett was well known in union circles as secretary of the A.M.A. (now W.I.U. of A.) He held that position until March 1921, when he became the first permanent secretary to the Compensation Scheme Joint Committee. He left here in 1934. Mr. Barnett leaves a widow and grown-up family of two daughters and two sons. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the internment being made in the Mitcham Cemetery, the Rev. Pearman officiating at the graveside.
