Frederick John Atkins (?–1919)

Frederick Atkins, n.d.

Frederick Atkins, n.d.

from Pastoral Review, 16 August 1919

Frederick John Atkins, of Coorada Station, Taroom, Queensland, who recently succumbed to pneumonic influenza, was a well-known pastoralist in the district. For the past seven years he had been a cripple through his spine being hurt by a fall from a horse, but notwithstanding this he took a keen interest in all local affairs, being president to the Taroom Agricultural Society, and amongst other offices holding a seat on the shire council. During the war his generosity to all funds for helpings the soldiers was unbounded. No one asked in vain. His death was keenly felt and regretted by the whole district, and his genial disposition, his ever-ready helping hand, won for him the goodwill and fellowship of all who knew him. He leaves a wife and six young children.
