Although he has not been in the best of health, his death was unexpected. He was born in Cooktown, and was a son of the late Mr. Peter Alroe, who was well known in postal circles. In earlier days Mr. J. Alroe played tennis. He was a keen golfer, and was a member of the Indooroopilly Club. His death occurred on his 19th wedding anniversary. His wife before her marriage was Miss Ivy Lambert. He is survived also by a daughter and two sons.
