David Henry Allan (1897–1918)
Mr. and Mrs. J. Allan, of Beacons field, received the distressing news on Friday evening that their son, Sergt. David Allan, M.M., had been killed in action on April 21. To the Rev. J. H. Harrison fell the painful duty of communicating the sad news to the parents. Sergt. Allan was amongst the first to enlist at the outbreak of the war. He went to Egypt and served through the Gallipoli campaign, where he was severely wounded. After a spell in the hospital, he went to France. Some time ago he was awarded the Military Medal.
