Patrick John Abfalter (1919–1945)

Mr and Mrs J. I. Abfalter, of High St., Malvern, have received official news of the death of their only son, Patrick John, on March 26, 1945, while a prisoner of war in Borneo.

Private Abfalter, whose father is secretary of the Australian Tramways Employees' Association, was educated at De La Salle school, Malvern, and was 26.

He left Australia in December, 1941, and had been reported missing since the fall of Singapore. At the time of his enlistment he was a motor mechanic with the Melbourne Tramways Board.
